This week we can confirm that the 8th of December 2011 will be the date that Threshold 2011 is held in Kings College London. Save the date in your diary and keep coming back for more news.
We are delighted to announce that we will be holding Threshold2011 at Kings College London this year. The exact venue is yet to be confirmed but KCL have kindly agreed to act as hosts for the day in one of their splendid buildings in central London.
This year we are hoping for a bigger and better event. To this end we have been lucky enough to have recruited a number of volunteers who have fantastic experience in the design and education world and who are interested in being involved in the conference. We have named these volunteers ‘Threshold Ambassadors’ and they will be supporting us throughout the whole conference, helping with the organisation, selection of speakers, selection of themes and even sponsorship. We will be featuring these ambassadors on the blog one at a time begining with our first, Helen McNamara.
Helen is an interior designer and educator with 35 years’ experience in lecturing, design practice and skills development. A graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, Helen worked in London specialising in the design of office, retail and living spaces, and in her own design practice in Argyll. This was followed by 17 years as a senior lecturer in design with Glasgow College of Building and Printing and 11 years with learndirect scotland/Skills Development Scotland, heading up a team specialising in interactive online learning and the design of innovative learning centre spaces. Helen also produced, with BBC Education in London, interactive video rich learning resources on the cultural and technical influences on homes throughout history and around the globe in terms of architecture, living patterns, materials and methods of construction. Having recently taken early retirement, Helen is keen to write and research further on this topic.
We are really excited to be working with Helen and looking forward to getting started.
We are excited to announce that we are now organizing Threshold 2011. The aim of the conference is to bring designers, health-care professionals and educators together to share their knowledge of creating people centred spaces.
We are at the early planning stages but hope to host the event in London later this year. We are looking for speakers, sponsors and for anyone who generally wants to help out. If you are interested in becoming involved email us at threshold@nomad-rdc for more information or check out last years blog at http://threshold2010.wordpress.com
